Remote Access could not find the DHCP because it was looking at the wrong network adapter. However a few days ago i did notice the LAN adaptor was "acquiring IP address" which did not make sense because it is manually assigned. Everything is back where it was. If not you could use the DHCP relay option.
I suggest a member server. If using SBS you should be using the wizard to configure the VPN which will look after DHCP, firewall, and routing.
