I will attach the xorg.conf I am using for 10.10 as info. Please report back here. But it is probably better to manually set all your display stuff up in xorg.conf. A few minutes later, it says it is done, and it will use the HDD-installed OS from then on.
I have to keep patching (if using this monitor) until this is solved somehow in the kernel. I guess it was just coincidental then that this patch went in about the same time this problem showed up on maverick. I typed this comment and restarted before posting it!! :( @Seth: "dmesg | grep -i NAK" returns nothing "dmesg | grep -i bail" returns nothing as well. I am quite sure that this has something to do with the latest nvidia driver (313.18) but since I don't use this machine daily, I can't say exactly.First, what's the problem?
I am faced with a screen resolution that is stuck on 1024x768. I would like find a user with same problem I had, because I think this problems affects many things in KMS (Kernel mode switch), not just switching between user session, also I thought I was going to be able to hack it, but there's so many details that I dropped that idea. is it a laptop monitor? This lead me to try various windows based EDID extraction utilities without any success. Thanks for testing. if so, does Windows have the same problem? If you are happy with your monitor, and just want the error message to bugger off, try something like this in your /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d: Code: Option "IgnoreEDID" "1" Modes "1152X864" "1024X768" "800x600" gtdaqua (gtdaquitaine) wrote on 2011-04-27: #46 Extremely Sorry abt the delay!

Since product id, manufacture dates, and descriptions are just information, I have to conclude that the only problem with your edid is the checksum (byte 127).
