RAID arrays can fail. The drives are all Seagate (purchased within a week or two of each other) and Seatools has been run on all of them, says they are all good. Since I removed the drives from the caddies and connected the IDE cable directly to the drives the error has not reoccurred since. As soon as I installed the system the errors came back. At last I resolved it successfully. Tech support said if the issue is fixed, to freshly format the drives to make sure there was no damage left behind.

Just for the fun of it we checked with Dell support since the machine is rather new. The rest of the time, we just get this error by itself. Is it possible to get a professor position without having had any fellowships in grad school?
